About me

I'm Tim Kamanin, an independent developer working with Django, Wagtail, and AI workflows. I've built websites and web applications for clients since 2007, and I usually keep looking after them long after launch.

I started out on Drupal. I spent eight years with it and learned it inside out. Along the way, I picked up Python and Django, and then I found Wagtail. Django and Wagtail have been my main tools ever since.

What I work on

Today, I build Django applications, Wagtail websites, and AI workflows for founders, agencies, and teams. On the web side, that means company sites and online shops, customer portals, booking and membership platforms, and internal tools. On the AI side, it means workflows and agents that take over a team's repetitive work, built into the tools they already use.

I've worked with clients in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK, and the US.

My stack is Python, Django, and Wagtail on the backend, JavaScript and web components on the frontend, and Dokku and Docker for deployment.

I stay after launch

Most of my work is long-term. For over six years, I've been the sole developer of a healthcare membership platform, covering memberships, payments, events, exams, and content publishing.

That's how I like to work. You talk to the person who writes the code, I explain the technical choices in plain language, and when you need a change two years from now, I already know the project.

Django community and open source

I'm an Individual Member of the Django Software Foundation, and I create and maintain open source packages for Django developers, including Django-Tailwind.

I also write practical tutorials about Django, Wagtail, and Python on this site. Most of them come from real projects: things I figured out once and didn't want to figure out again.
